Platform Outage Hacker Group Claims Responsibility😱

Elon Musk Confirms Cyber Attack

The social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), which serves millions of users worldwide, experienced a major cyber attack today, leading to hours of access issues. Following the service disruption, a hacker group claimed responsibility for the attack, while X CEO Elon Musk described the incident as a “sophisticated cybersecurity breach.”

The attack began in the afternoon, causing problems such as users being unable to access profile pages, messaging features malfunctioning, and real-time notifications ceasing. Although company officials initially stated it was a “technical malfunction,” the hacker group “Anonymous Collective” soon claimed responsibility in a post on a dark web forum. The group stated, “We tested the security of centralized communication platforms,” in their announcement.

Elon Musk confirmed the attack in a statement, saying, “Vulnerabilities in our systems were swiftly addressed. We are confident that user data remains secure.” However, experts warned that the attack exposed weaknesses in X’s infrastructure and that similar incidents could recur. Maria Gonzalez, an analyst from cybersecurity firm ThreatGuard, commented, “Such attacks highlight how fragile centralized platforms can be.”

The outage particularly impacted media organizations, emergency responders, and small businesses that rely on X as a primary communication channel. The platform’s downtime also reignited debates about the role of social media during crises.

While X’s technical team has reportedly restored full functionality, questions remain about the hacker group’s motives and potential data leaks. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
